To steal your eyes for a moment
To indulge in the image I see from the night of my apartment
The night sky like a sleek garment
Casting over the glimmering lights of progression
Once that was darkness illuminated by fire
Now stands poles of electricity to let eyes desire
To stop where they see fit to look over at the moon
Or look as far as the the car coming soon
The night sky with the twinkles of beams from the stars
Makes you think who’s the one behind the invisible bars
Invisible bars that has us caged in to not be able to reach out and grab
Reach out and take or to take to the distances our eyes can see
Sky scrappers of inmates they’ve no place but here to dwell
They may not be inside my cell but just like me they can’t touch the stars as well
Galaxies as they call it scattered all across led by words
Words that one person said they saw led by ones voyage
How do we know he was not telling of a tale
A tale that sees no light like the inmate in the hole cell
So like blind mice were caged to believe this is all that’s left
But they wont steal my eyes for as long as there’s nights like these
I’ll always know there are higher heights and deeper depths
