DREAMS…
Whats it really mean to you?
To wake up every day the opposite of white
The opposite of right
The lost colors of the night
Does it mean you were raped of progression
Force fed the image of depression
While drinking bottle after bottle of recession
Well it didn’t take more than a dream
For one man to stand up in face of the hoses and dogs
To see past the ropes and chopped logs
That had his fellow mans mouth tied down
A dream that had one woman lead them underground
Tired of seeing her family working for nothing
Nothing but lynches and cracked skin
Cracked skin that bled the strength of the skin it was within
That strength that raised them up to go hard
And take what they were given
Given a life sentence for there dreams
Dreams of better days and multi-cultured teams
Teams that would once run the world
That once brought nightmares to those whose hair was black and curled
A world that was once ruled by blonde hair and blue eyes
Would be soon enough equal to black skin and brown eyes
Those same dreams ran campaigns
Powered by the blood drained from the veins
Driven by the cries of those pains
That were once heard loud in the night
But were silenced when they looked up to the heavens in the light
Rejoices in their voices as better days were coming soon
And though they were kidnapped by slavery
Slaughtered for their bravery
They were delivered by their dreams and imagery
So sleep on and dream on
And wake up fulfilling those dreams….
